SleepCast support

A good night should not need troubleshooting.

Start with the essentials, find an answer by topic, or email us directly. Every support link on this page works without an account.

First night

Set up SleepCast in four steps

You can always change these choices later. Nothing here locks your library or listening history into one experience.

  1. 01

    Choose your experience

Open Settings → Experience Mode. Simple is focused on bedtime listening; Expert exposes the complete library and creation toolkit.

  2. 02

    Add your podcasts

Search the directory, explore charts, paste a feed URL, or import an OPML file from another podcast app.

  3. 03

    Tune the sleep timer

Set a duration, fade, optional sleep check, motion sensitivity, soundscape, and bedtime window that suit your routine.

  4. 04

    Start listening

Play an episode and let the timer handle the transition. Your settings remain ready for the next night.

Sleep timer

Why does the sleep timer not start automatically?

Check that the sleep timer is enabled and that the current time falls inside your configured bedtime window. If you selected “end of episode,” the behavior follows the episode boundary instead of a minute countdown.

Why did movement not extend my timer?

Confirm that the sleep check and motion detection are enabled. Movement is monitored near the end of the timer, and very small movements may not pass your selected sensitivity threshold. Try the in-app sensitivity guidance and keep the phone on a surface that can register your movement.

How do resume announcements work?

SleepCast can speak the current time before playback resumes. A short recap is also available when on-device summarisation is supported and enabled. You can control time and recap announcements separately in Sleep Timer settings.

AI & transcripts

Why are AI summaries unavailable on my device?

Transcription uses an on-device WhisperKit model. Summary generation and sleep-resume recaps additionally depend on supported Apple on-device intelligence capabilities. Availability therefore varies by device and operating system.

What should I do when an AI job appears stuck?

Open AI settings and check whether processing is restricted to external power. Connect power if needed. You can cancel the current job and retry it; a completed transcript is preserved when possible so it does not need to be recreated.

Bookmarks

Why does a bookmark not have an audio clip or transcript?

Audio-fragment capture and automatic transcription are optional. Check Bookmarks settings and make sure the source episode is still available. Existing bookmarks remain useful as timestamps even when no fragment was captured.

Downloads

Why did a download stop or remain queued?

Check available device storage and the Wi-Fi-only setting. A download waiting for Wi-Fi will continue when an allowed connection is available. You can retry it from the episode or downloads screen.

Notifications

Why am I not receiving new-episode notifications?

Verify notification permission in iOS Settings and in SleepCast. The Notifications screen shows permission status and the last background check, and includes a test check to confirm the workflow.

Playlists

How does automatic playlist following work?

In Expert mode, open a playlist and choose a podcast to follow. New episodes from that show are then added to the playlist. Automatic downloads are a separate per-playlist option under Downloads settings.

CarPlay

Why is my CarPlay list out of date?

Open SleepCast on your iPhone and refresh subscriptions or your queue. If CarPlay still shows an older list, disconnect and reconnect the CarPlay session.

Statistics

Why are my statistics empty or incomplete?

Listening and sleep-timer statistics build up as you use the app. Check the selected date range and make sure you are viewing the correct Listening or Sleep Timer section.

Subscriptions

How do I move subscriptions to or from SleepCast?

Use OPML import to bring a subscription list from another compatible podcast app. Use OPML export whenever you want a portable backup or plan to move your subscriptions elsewhere.

Small changes, smoother nights

Practical tips from the way SleepCast is designed

Start with one stable bedtime preset

Choose your timer, fade, motion, and soundscape settings once. Use that setup for several nights before fine-tuning sensitivity.

Use end-of-episode for narrative shows

For a story with a natural ending, stopping at the episode boundary can feel better than a fixed countdown.

Process AI jobs while charging

Larger transcription models need more time and power. Power-only queue processing keeps heavy work away from normal listening.

Export OPML as a lightweight backup

An occasional OPML export makes it easy to move your subscriptions to another installation or podcast app.
